Unscrew the old filter. Check the engine mating face — if the old rubber gasket stuck, peel it off or the new filter will leak immediately.
Oil the new gasket. Spin on until contact, then about ¾ turn (unless the filter says otherwise). Cartridge housings: new O-rings every time, lid torque is usually very low — don't gorilla it.
Pro tip: A filter wrench is for taking the old one off. Tightening is mostly by hand.
