Free auto & mechanics tip: Empty the glovebox, find the dampener (step 9 of 12 from "Wipers, Washer Fluid & Cabin Filter").

Engine off. Empty the glovebox so a 2 kg owner's manual is not hanging on a $4 piston. Look on the right inner wall: a small hydraulic or plastic dampener arm clips to the glovebox. Unclip it by sliding or pinching — do not pry the dash pad. Then squeeze the left and right sides of the glovebox so the molded stop tabs at the back clear the dashboard opening. The box should swing down and hang.

If it will not squeeze, you are fighting a third stop or a screw (some Hondas/Toyotas have a 7 mm or Phillips along the top edge). One extra screw is not a failure. Forcing the plastic until it goes white and cracks is a failure. Ten minutes with the model name and 'cabin filter' on your phone beats a $120 glovebox.
