The line is the truth. The first bracket chases the line, not a guess.

01A real level line

Typical desk shelf sits 25–30 cm above the work surface. Pencil a line longer than the shelf. Laser or a long level.

Find studs, then confirm with a tiny nail or a thin bit. Studs are often 16" on center. Mark centers, not the hollow beep next to the stud.

02Two studs minimum

A 90 cm shelf should hit two studs. If it can't, shorten the shelf or add a third support. Read the kit's load rating and cut it in half in your head if kids exist.

Outlets usually sit on a stud. Use them as clues.
