Know which drip you have before you buy parts.
01Spout, handle, or base

Spout drip: internal valve. Handle drip: often O-rings. Base: gasket or a loose mount. Watch it for a minute. Take the old cartridge to the store in a bag — brand and model hide under the handle.

Rag in the sink so screws don't vanish down the drain.

Under-sink valves off. Open the faucet to relieve pressure. If stops scream or won't turn, house shutoff instead — forcing a brittle stop is how cabinets flood.

Photo the handle. You want it pointing the same way when you return.
