Build two leg pairs with a horizontal stretcher near the ground and one under the seat. Keep corners square with a clamp and square.
Bolts through legs = bombproof; long exterior screws OK if predrilled.
Pro tip. A slight 5–10° leg splay outward looks good and adds stability.
