This is the museum standard — the center of the artwork at 57 inches (145 cm) from the floor. Measure the frame height, divide by two, add that to 145 cm — that is where the TOP of the frame sits. But you are not hanging from the top — you are hanging from the wire or D-ring.
So: pull the wire taut (or measure D-ring position) and note the distance from that hang point to the top of the frame. Subtract that from your top-of-frame mark. That is where the nail or screw goes. This single calculation is why pictures end up too high on most walls.
