Once a day, aim the spray at the base. Wet leaves in a dense tray invite mold — the air between microgreen stems has no circulation. If your kitchen is humid (above 70%), point a small fan gently across the tray surface for an hour a day.
White fuzz at the base of stems on day 3–4 is root hairs, not mold. Mold is grey or green, fuzzy, and smells off. Root hairs are fine white threads only at the soil line. Learn the difference before you panic and toss a healthy tray.
Pro tip: If actual mold appears: toss the whole tray, clean it with dilute hydrogen peroxide, and start over. Do not eat a moldy tray.
