01ATGATT — all the gear, all the time

Helmet fastened, gloves, jacket with armor or layers, sturdy pants, boots covering ankle. Shorts and sneakers = hospital bill.

Check bike: tire pressure, chain or belt, brake lever firm, kill switch works, fuel on.

02Controls map — know before engine on

Right hand: throttle roll, front brake. Right foot: rear brake. Left hand: clutch. Left foot: shifter — 1 down, rest up, neutral half-click between 1 and 2.

Sit on bike stationary: clutch in, tap through gears, find neutral. Engine off practice 10 times.

Pro tip. Kill switch on handlebar — know where it is before panic.
