Free photography tip: Hold a white card opposite the window (step 3 of 14 from "Product Photos on a $20 Setup").
Your reflector is just a second white card or foam board. Hold it (or lean it against a box) on the shadow side of your product — the side away from the window. It bounces light back into the shadows, reducing contrast.
Move it closer for more fill, farther for more drama. For clean e-commerce shots, keep it close so shadows are soft and detail is visible on all sides. You don't want pure black shadows on a listing photo — buyers want to see the whole product.
You'll need
- Poster board taped into seamless curve
- Table within 2 feet of window
- Reflector card on shadow side
- No direct sunlight hitting the setup
