Free cleaning & laundry tip: Coffee, sweat, and grass (step 7 of 10 from "Laundry That Doesn't Shrink or Stink").
Coffee: flush immediately with cold water from the back of the fabric (push the stain out, not deeper). Rub liquid detergent into the spot, wait 5 minutes, then wash. For old coffee stains, soak in a mix of warm water and oxygen bleach (OxiClean) for an hour.
Sweat yellowing on white shirts: make a paste of 2 parts baking soda, 1 part hydrogen peroxide, and 1 part water. Apply to the underarm area, let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash on warm. Grass: rub liquid detergent or a paste of baking soda and water into the stain. Let it sit 15 minutes. Grass is a dye — it needs time and agitation, not just a rinse.
Pro tip: Always treat stains before the dryer. The heat of a dryer permanently sets most stains. If the stain didn't come out after washing, air-dry and re-treat — don't tumble dry.
