Free everyday life tip: Group items by aisle, not by meal (step 3 of 10 from "Grocery Shopping That Saves $50 a Week").

Take your meal plan and extract every ingredient you need. Now reorganise the list by where it lives in the store: produce together, dairy together, meat together, pantry staples together. If you list items by recipe (all the chicken stir-fry ingredients, then all the pasta ingredients), you will zigzag through the store three times, passing the snack aisle each time and grabbing things not on the list.

Most grocery stores follow a standard layout: produce at the entrance, bakery and deli on the perimeter, dairy at the back, frozen on one side, and shelf-stable items in the centre aisles. Walk the perimeter first (produce, meat, dairy), then hit the centre aisles you need. Skipping aisles entirely is the single biggest money-saving move — you cannot impulse-buy chips if you never walk down the chip aisle.
